Professionals

Information for professionals
All professionals (social workers, teachers, mentors, youth workers) working with children in City and Hackney have responsibility for promoting emotional resilience and for recognising and helping children with mental health problems. This is described as Tier 1 CAMHS. Tiers 2, 3 and 4 are the services delivered by professionals who have been specifically trained to assess and treat children and young people with mental health problems. Full description of the Tier structure of CAMHS
The term mental health problem covers a wide range, from the worries and concerns of everyday life, to severe and debilitating disorders and it can be difficult to know if/when a child should be referred and to which CAMH service. All the CAMH services in Hackney offer consultation to contribute to the decision making process.
This section of the website provides information about the different CAMH services in Hackney.
- The Specialist CAMH Service ( Tiers 2, 3and 4) is for children and young people with more serious and more complex mental health problems.
- The Social Care CAMH Service (Tier 2) is for children and young people with mental health problems who also have social care needs. It is integrated with the Children and Young People’s Social Work Service.
- The Primary Care CAMH Service (Tier 2/3) is for children and young people with relatively mild problems likely to respond to a short term intervention and for children who have mental health problems associated with learning difficulty or disability.
