East London NHS Foundation Trust

is a mental health trust with university status. It provides local services to the City of London and Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham and also provides specialist services to a wider population. The services include child and adolescent mental health services in all three boroughs and an adolescent inpatient unit.

The Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in City and Hackney is for children and young people up to the age of 18, who have serious mental health problems, which are impacting on their day to day functioning. The service is multi disciplinary and includes; a general manager and an operational manager and approximately 40 clinicians including consultant child and adolescent psychiatrists, junior doctors from the Great Ormond Street/Royal London CAMH training scheme and  from The Royal London psychiatry training scheme; clinical psychologists; child psychotherapists; family therapists and specialist CAMH nurses.

  • The Child and Family Consultation Service (CFCS) The main specialist CAMHS assessment and treatment service is delivered by two multidisciplinary teams based for the North of the Borough in the John Scott Health Centre and for the South in 15 Homerton Row
  • Targeted Teams Specialist CAMHS also includes teams working with partner agencies to provide a service for specific groups of children and young people; the Adolescent Mental Health Team, the Parental Mental Health Team, the Learning Difficulty Mental Health Team, the School Mental Health Team, the Youth Support Mental Health Team and the Multi Systemic Therapy Team.
  • Coborn Adolescent Unit The Trust provides In patient and day patient services for all three boroughs for young people who have a serious psychiatric illness including psychosis. The Unit is based at Newham General Hospital.
